Online Manual: Virtual Site Settings

FireSite's "Virtual Site Settings" are settings that take effect only for one virtual Web site at a time. Each option is discussed in detail below.

Site Name
You can choose any name for a site that you like. This field is provided simply so that you can easily keep track of various clients and projects.
This field is never displayed to visitors browsing your site.

Local Path
This is the folder path from the root of your Web server folder down to the correct folder for this virtual site. Use slashes as directory separators.

Primary Host Name and Host Name Aliases
FireSite lets you define more than one host name for a virtual Web site. For example, you might want www.firstco.com and firstco.com both to point to the same folder. Simply choose one name (usually the "www" name) as the primary host name, and then enter as many "host name aliases" as you wish.

Deleting Virtual Site Settings
If you wish to delete a 'virtual site' from FireSite click on the link provided.
You will not be asked for a 'confirmation', but you can re-define the virtual site later on.
This action does not delete or modify any files on your disk; it simply removes the settings for the site from FireSite's database.

Site Error Page
If you wish this virtual site to have an 'error' page different from the Web server's default Error page, enter the site-relateive URL for the error page here.
The Error page for each site should reside within the site's folder on disk.
Note that if you are using NetCloak, SSI, or another CGI or plug-in to process your HTML files, and you are having trouble getting the Error page to work, check the general FireSite Settings; the Action/Error controls will probably fix the problem.
